Diamondwolf Bio

Award-winning Seattle band Diamondwolf is two long-time locals in harmony. Alicia Dara has been a member of the Seattle music community for 15 years, released 5 solo records and fronts indie rock band The Volcano Diary. Glen Cooper is a local musician and improv actor. They met 13 years ago and reconnected in 2012. An EP of 2 originals and three covers was released in 2013. The CD release at the Crocodile for their first EP sold out, and they got a reputation for red-hot acoustic shows with skilled close-harmony singing that evokes The Civil Wars and Band of Horses. Diamondwolf has played many local venues including the Croc, the Sunset Tavern, and the 2015 Folklife Festival. Diamondwolf has won international songwriting awards for their songs, one for the haunting ballad "Swansong" and two for the rousing anthem "Cool Blue Fire". Both songs appear on their full-length debut CD, “Your Time Has Come” available 3/25/2015 on CD Baby, Itunes, Amazon, and Spotify. Thier first pressing of the record sold out and another was printed and is also available for purchase at Diamondwolf’s live shows. Their single "When I Rise" was featured in Magnet Magazine. Their record received a 10 out of 10 rating on the Country Perspective music blog, and was included in the "Best of 2015" on this popular blog.

Both Alicia and Glen are multi-instrumental, and they played most of the tracks on their CD, with Alicia on drums and slide guitar, and Glen on bass and electric guitar. The signature Diamondwolf sound is the interplay between two acoustic guitars: Glen plays a regular 6- string acoustic, and Alicia's has Nashville strings, which fills out their sound and creates unique chord voicings. Their record was recorded in an open room on Vashon Island, at the studio of with co-producer Jason Staczek, inside a “forest of microphones” that captured crystal-clear live takes of their voices and guitars. Overdubs were added afterward, with Staczek adding piano, cello, and Hammond B3 organ. Additional tracks were recorded and co-produced with Moe Provencher, and with Justin Froese in the cavernous Fremont Abbey.

Diamondwolf has also recorded an EP of covers, including songs by Queens of the Stone Age, Neil Young, Goldfrapp and Tom Waits, to give to fans that contribute to the band's spring 2015 Kickstarter campaign for their CD "Your Time Has Come".
